Nestle earned from selling the remaining 52% holding in Alcon to healthcare firm Novartis is expected to raise 28.1 billion US dollars (£17.4 billion).  Although it is still in the speculation stage, the food giant may use some of the proceeds for UK takeover target Cadbury.

Expect Google to launch its own mobile phone called Nexus One this Tuesday.  The world is watching because this may be the next big thing to mobile phones.

Apple will unveil a touch-screen tablet computer on January 26.

Tablets and midsize screens will dominate as size is everything in computing these days. The 8- to 10-inch dumbed-down laptops may be overshadowed by other midsize computing devices.

I anticipate Apple, Shapiro and Dell to be among the top competitors in this field.

Kids can expect better E-books and e-readers that let readers consume digital books without the eye strain caused by computer monitors.

The new generation of televisions is coming… “Smart TVs” or “Connected TVs,” and they do things like download Netflix films, stream Pandora music, check e-mail and communicate with other electronic devices in the convenience of your home.

Soon, U.S. television signals can be viewed on mobile devices like smartphones and portable media players.  A South Korean company Cydle says it will debut mobile TV products for cars. And iMovee announced that it will unveil several mobile TV products.  Look for South Korean mobile phone and electronics maker LG to get in the U.S. mobile TV market as well, as is rumored by tech blogs.  Nonetheless, , Shapiro said, will be 3-D technology from 3M that does not require glasses for viewing — as well as laptops and video games that display three-dimensional images.

3-D Television, games and laptops providers as Sony and Panasonic have announced plans to sell 3-D television to consumers in 2010.  Viewers will be required to wear clunky 3-D glasses in order for images to jump off of the screen, but other brands as

There will be car wireless Internet as Ford and other automakers have already announced it.

The emergence of mobile television also probably means live TV will come to automobile consoles and headrests soon.

New phones using the Android platform will be unveiled and is expected to extend its reach from smartphones into other electronics like televisions.

And a whole lot more.
