“Nobody really cares if you’re miserable, so might as well be happy.”  -Cynthia Nelms”

Three (3) Devastating Typhoons just passed Visayan provinces, Mindanao and Palawan in a matter of a month or two.  Flash flood ravages from the mountains with many logs that destroys bridges, residential houses, people’s livelihood and so many lives.  As I write for this blog post, another storm just enter Philippine area of responsibility.  The concerned provinces are still to recover from natural and man made calamities that just just passed yet another storm is coming (e.g. war, heavy flooding, decline in agri export, increase of farm expense cost, damage infrastructure,  deaths of loved ones, etc.).  I could not even provide enough for my own family and the people whom I previously work with because I could not provide jobs lately due to no buyers of my offered bananas and other agri producs (high price caused many buyers divert to countries like Ecuador). How can I help?

I was on the church yesterday but could not focus because my mind wanders.  All of a sudden I thought of the rich craftsmanship talents where I reside (wood furniture making).  So much woods and logs in the devastated area, why provide jobs through establishing a furniture making and wood curving business out of it?  All just need is fund grant and potential buyers/importers to put a workshop area, place to collect the woods, equipment and cash flow.  As what I was doing with banana export, I can capitalize with buyer’s advance payment.  The finished products can either be sold locally or can be exported per sample images below. All I just need to do is collaborate with willing trainers and fund for the needed facility and equipment.  There is hope.

…only one way left to go, and that’s up!

1

“You know what’s great about hitting rock bottom? There’s only one way left to go, and that’s up!”  -Buster Moon (Sing movie)

Philippine Cavendish Banana is already known for its distinctive deliciously sweet taste in comparable to its competitor nations.  Cavendsih BananaThat is what makes it a favorite among buyers.  Cavendish Banana is one of the Philippine’s best agricultural products, second only to coconut oil. The Philippines is the second largest banana exporter in the world, making the banana industry a consistent top dollar earner having shared 15-18 percent of the total top 10 agricultural exports revenue.   But trend change recently due a number of natural and man made calamity:

  • Effects of climate change
  • Typhoon and flooding
  • Price war
  • Spread of plant diseases
  • Previous market crises in China and Iran
  • The recent El Niño phenomenon and its drought effect
  • Lack of government subsidy
  • others

The problem is severe and one need not be a rocket scientist to figure what is going on. Sadly, the ones widely affected are not just the entrepreneurs and capitalist but the laborers who are earning hand to mouth.  These are the packing house workers, the container loaders, drivers, quality inspectors, porters and so on and so forth.   Come to think of it, these common workers have babies that needs milk and diapers, and has a family that has basic needs, plus an elderly parent who needs maintenance medicines to survive.  This industry employs 503,058 people receiving an estimated 44 billion Philippine Pesos in annual wages.  More than three million individuals are dependent on the banana export industry and it also helps mold the future of two million children in Mindanao Philippines.   But how can it sustain its support to the nation if the industry is facing with difficulties in finding ways to lower operation cost thus offer lower price competitively?

There are not much buyers recently for small and medium banana traders and exporters, as such, many are not earning enough for their families.  It is as simple as that.  The main factors are the higher operation cost and fluctuating farm gate price.

Operation Monitor‘Don’t let fear stop you from doing the thing you love.’   -Buster Moon (Sing movie)

Life must go on.  We and our families also suffered from the setbacks but cannot stop now as being in this business is not always for profit.  We have purpose why we are here. Although we seek solution to resolve major issues, we also welcome support and donations for the benefit of those who are hardly hit — the hand to mouth earning workers and their families.  Every time you see Cavendish bananas on your supermarket or at market place, it did not just came there that easy.  We are literally exhausting sweat and blood as we are squeezed by importers and quarantine inspectors to perform and produce high standards.  Quality costs  Nonetheless, fear of not earning enough should not cripple us from doing the things we love.

Since 2007, this business has facilitated deliveries of Cavendish Bananas and other agricultural products to these nations:  China, Vladivostok Russia, Bulgaria, Iran, Egypt, Singapore, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Dubai.  If you can donate or wish to collaborate in supporting the industry especially the hardly affected, please do so.  You can email at sembawangtrading.co@gmail.com for details.

‘No one has become poor by giving.’

I am not always for profit.

3I am not always for profit.  I also find ways to help.  In the past I initiated projects like medical mission, elderly care and youth empowering activities.  It is something I saw from my parents since my childhood days.  On 2010, cancer became so close to me (my wife, my brother and my aunt are simultaneously being treated).  Everyone knows how financially draining and mind breaking this ailment is but a number of people I don’t expect reached-out and extended their unselfish support.  Unfortunately, 2 of our donors already died.  I am trying to continue what my late donors and my parents have started to give  back.  I am offering a T-shirt in support of less fortunate cancer patients christian-christmas-holy-family-ornament[1]being ministered by the 2 Christian Churches I am supporting, one is base in Quezon City and the other is in Tagaytay City (both in the Philippines).  Proceeds will be given directly (MOQ – at least 12 pcs).  If you are interested, please email me directly at sembawangtrading.co@gmail.com so I can reply with quote and terms.  Please mention your mailing address so we can add the shipping cost.  Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!

I desire to partner with a foundation or NGO if given the chance, to widen my reach.

I just supplied Mango Puree Factory

12

I just came from a week long Mango harvest and packing operation for the benefit of my Puree/IQF factory client.  Standard for Puree/IQF processing are not that strict in terms of mango skin appearance unlike what we saw on marketplace and supermarkets.  Below are our classification:

  • Class C – Puree/IQF Processing
  • Class B – We delivered them to local marketplace and supermarkets
  • Class A – Export quality

We segregate during harvest

Rice Wholesale-Retail Trading BizPlan

I again did a Rice Wholesale-Retail Business Plan per request of a Cavitena  (Filipina).  It’s not a “pwede na yan” or copy-paste thing as I immersed, researched a lot and did actual field interviews. Most of the request came from OFW as they can use it to loan capital at OWA.

I can now provide a more detailed and updated Rice Wholesale-Retail Business Plan

Like what I did for other requesting party, I made it as realistic as possible and tailored made, reader friendly and you can already start with your business as there are step by step guide and pricing.

If you are going to pursue your desired business, I need to ask where are you base and where do you intend to establish your Rice Trading business?

I ask because the location is important.  Price also fluctuates regularly.

Most who earlier requested are OFW as they are using it to acquire loan at OWA.  I also receive request from Foreigners.  Are you an OFW?

My Business Plan are far different  from works of other maker (“tumbok mo agad through a step by step guide how to start right away.  Kita mod din agad ang expenses and income as I did field research and actual operation study).  I also visited miller suppliers plan and study variety sample as shown photos.

I won’t pretend to know it all but I have more than enough experience for your requirement.

Other requests in the past are are as follows:

  • Moringa Cultivation and Processing Feasibility and Business Plan
  • Cavendish Banana Farming and Export Potential
  • Software and Hardware Development
  • There’s more
