Ironically

I am in Tagaytay City Philippine right now and  I was surprised to see tourists all over the place.  Come to think of it… many of them are East and South East Asian speaking in Chinese language.   I was  just surprised because they look unbothered and unaffected from the negative news and publicity Philippines is getting from countries as China, Australia, etc.

No offense to the affected.  Of course, we Filipinos are saddened and sympathize with the concerned.  It’s just that life must go on, though both parties are searching for justice and credible investigation is in progress.

I know how hard it is to forgive at this point.  But hope this could lead to cooperation on how to better facilitate incidents as the painful hostage crisis that happened; and granting of tools or gadgets for better counter crimes and counter terrorism.

If you are a tourist wishing to visit the Philippines or would want to acquire properties (for business or residential), I will be gladly assist you if you want.  You can e-mail me directly at denissalvatierra@yahoo.com

Gmail now has phone feature

Steven Spielberg hasn’t thought about it before he filmed E.T.  The Extra Terrestrial.  If it were shown today, E.T. could have use Gmail as it now has phone call feature for its users.  An alien technology is now a fact:  Phone calls are now available at Gmail as officially declared by Google.  Once a 404 in cyber space is now made possible by Google, to simplify the approach in calling through a computer.  This technology has unified Gmail and Google’s Voice Technology.

Seriously, the users can simply check the box next to Google Chat in their list of forwarding phones and the next time someone calls their Google Voice number, to get started.   Gmail will notify them of an incoming call.

Furthermore, Gmail users can link their Google Voice accounts with their Gmail.  It was assured to be normal as always.  And it will ring when someone is calling the Google Voice numbers.  At the same time, number will appear on the incoming call screen.  The international calls will be funded by Google Voice account yet isn’t required to use the service of such.  Calls to phone numbers in the U.S. and Canada will be free, and will cost 2 cents a minute to several other countries such as France and the U.K.   Another good news is that Google has no plans to raise rates beyond 2010.  Yet it will cost a little more to call mobile phones in countries outside the U.S.

Isn’t it great?  Nonetheless, it is still under testing per reported by a known Tech site.

Gmail users can expect a healthy competition with Skype, as the most well-known VoIP provider in the world to date.  Google Apps customers should not expect for this feature yet, but there is a possibility in the near future.  Who knows, a business-friendly version of this technology would soon be introduce!

Please be well informed that the service won’t be available on mobile devices at the moment.

Make no wild assumptions; Google is not aspiring in making this feature available through either mobile browser or an Android application as reiterated by Eric Schmidt, Google CEO.

In the contrary, there is a plan to install free Google Voice phone booths in public and crowded areas around the U.S. as terminals, airports and universities and shopping malls.

Check your  Gmail now and experience it yourself.

Cast the first stone

Philippines got the attention of the world again.

If insults and criticism could kill, most Filipinos in the face of the earth may have been annihilated  by now — most of them are in Hong Kong, China and countries in South East Asia.  Death toll could have been worse than Nuclear Holocaust or what the Germans did to the Jews during World War II.   This could have been more awful than the effects of weapons of mass destructions.

Don’t make me wrong.  I sympathize to the families and countrymen of the hostage victims and I belong to those who apologize for the mistakes of some of my countrymen.  It’s just that persecution of its nationals for the mistakes of some of their country men is also not right.

Many do not realize that both parties were victims and the effects are more destructive to the Philippines as more will lose their jobs due to almost collapse of stock markour et, cancellation of travel and hotel accommodation, fear among travellers, etc.  I do not justify the mistakes made but it was only done by some, yet it made a mockery of the Philippines as a whole.  And our relatives and countrymen that works or migrated in other countries, though has obviously nothing to do is now suffering from persecution due to what had happened.  This is worse than bullets.

While the whole world is busy giving negative comments, I could not help but ask.  Is this incident worst than what happened to the Hostage in 1972 Munich Massacre? Or worst than 1979 Iran Hostage Crisis? Hollocaust? 911 Attacked? Hostage Drama in Russia? …Need I say more?  This won’t justify the killings and mishandling but punishing the crushing Philippine economy and tourism through destructive criticism is worst.

Nonetheless, let me assure the world that Filipinos are still one of the most hospitable and most gracious people on earth and someone’s life is incomplete if haven’t been or seen the beauty of the Philippines.  Surely justice will be serve and security will be tightened.  I myself have friends in the Police forces and they are highly trained and excelled in international trainings.   What happened were unmistakably mishandling and miscalculation of the incident within the ranks and policy.  What happened was purely an isolated case and unintentional.  We apologize for our imperfection as no one and no country is perfect.

Rest assured that we will still be the most service oriented and most caring people that could even volunteer to the worst situation no other nationals would be even dare look or visit.  We Filipinos will always be proud of our country, heritage and culture. Our country may not have the development and advancement yet but our natural resources are beyond comprehension and truly the best tourist attraction in the world.  As what the environmentalist have said, Philippines is definitely the center of the center in marine bio diversity… and there’s more.  Why not view the video below and you yourself analyze how safe and beautiful is the Philippine archipelago.

There’s even more!

Vertigo Perception vs Facts

I woke from a night sleep and suddenly I got this uneasy feeling on my head down to my neck.  I though it was low blood pressure but I was wrong.  The worst I did was presume and self medicate.   Though not fully recovered yet, thank God I am still alive to tell about it.

Have you had Vertigo?

Definition of Vertigo

Vertigo is a type of dizziness felt as a shift in a person’s relationship to the normal environment (a feeling that the room is spinning is common) or a sense of movement in space.

Although dizziness and vertigo are often used interchangeably, they are not the same thing. While all vertigo is dizziness, not all dizziness is vertigo.

True vertigo, from the Latin “vertere,” to turn, is a distinct, often severe form of dizziness that is a movement hallucination.

Description of Vertigo

There are four major types of dizziness –vertigo, presyncope, disequilibrium, and lightheadedness.

Most patients with true vertigo have a peripheral vestibular disorder, such as benign positional vertigo. This is usually associated with tinnitus and hearing loss.

Central disorders, such as brain stem or cerebellar lesions, tend to be more chronic but less intense than peripheral disorders and are not associated with hearing loss. Central disorders account for only 15 percent of patients with vertigo.

Vertigo is the illusion that you – or your surroundings – are moving. You may feel that you are spinning, tilting, rocking, or falling through space. You may vomit or have ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Also, your eyes may uncontrollably jerk back and forth (a condition called nystagmus).

Excerpt from http://www.healthscout.com/ency/68/462/main.html

Vertigo is already clear in the medical community and is commonly associated with the problem in the internal parts of the ear or hearing imbalance.  Nonetheless, causes may vary to other causes or from two other common sources:

  • Brain problem
  • Nerve problem

Other Known Causes:

  • Due to the free-floating calcium carbonate crystals in the posterior semicircular
  • Canal An infection in the ear fore example syphilis
  • Vision problems
  • Acute head injury
  • Cardiac conditions
  • Brain tumors
  • Thyroid disease
  • Anemia
  • Calcium disorders
  • Motion sickness
  • Insufficient blood supply to brain
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Diabetes

As the common causes are now clearly identified, treatment is now easier for the medical practitioners as per below historical documentation.

Why ear? This body part regulates the balance to overall parts.

Why brain? It sends the signals to the inner part of the ear.

Why nerves? The nerves between ear and brain are responsible for the regulation of communication between those two parts of your body.

There can be others.

Treatment Suggestions coming from Medical Community:

(please do not self medicate, better to consult a Doctor)

1. Inner Ear Problem.

Vestibular rehabilitation is suggested treatment with therapy to cure whatever is resulting from the inner ear.  Improvement could be seen in days to a couple of weeks. Six months is the maximum time frame, depending on the situation.

2. Brain Cause.

In some cases, brain illnesses can be another cause but this is not a life threatening situation.  Similar with inner ear causes, such is just misalignments that affect relaying of signals from brain to the ear.  Suggested treatment is neurotransmitter reuptake inhibitors.  Unlike from inner ear problem, treatment for this is at times immeasurable and at least a minimum of 6 months.

3. Problem from the Nerves between ear and brain.

Suggested treatments are the likes of antihistamines, calcium antagonists and the Epley manoeuvre, and so on and so forth.  This should only be performed by highly qualified health professional.

Make sure you consult a Doctor and have a blood test first before any treatment as there are risk factor involve.

  1. The Business

1.1. Business Model and Value Proposition

1.1.1. Definition

As such, BIGAS@N101 will serve as a Rice online wholesale arm of Sembawang Trading, and as the go-between for the manufacturers/producers and the wholesale buyer/importer to meet their needs in the market.

This business dream to expand in the near future in the areas of farming and support to farmers and new entrepreneurs.

1.1.2. Business Name

We are registered as…

The word “Sembawang” was derived from a residential place in Singapore called Sembawang Drive to where the proponent learned online commodity trading when he briefly stayed on 2005.  We facilitate various products for export.

But as to our local rice offer, we plan to use a different name, as per suggested Signage design below.  If not, we will have no choice but to register below logolized company name

Why?

“Bigas” means Rice and “Bigasan” means Rice Store. The “@” was inserted instead of plain “a” as it is a symbol of e-commerce and trading. This will communicate to consumers that we are more than an ordinary rice store, we also facilitate wholesale and be also found in the internet (on-line rice trading). Our store name is easy to understand.

1.1.3. Objective

To go beyond the usual and to be a partner in progress

1.1.4. Mission

Never stop searching for ways  to better serve and satisfy our clients.

At the same time, we aim to create  a balance-work atmosphere above and beyond personal gain.

1.1.5. Vision

Out of the box rice trade and agriculture  with dignity and social responsibility.

1.1.6. Core Values

  • Teamwork
  • Knowledge
  • Hard work
  • Integrity
  • Satisfaction
  • Respect
  • Social responsibility
  • …”whatever we do, we do it all  for the glory of God”

Quotation:

“People succeeded in their projects

not only because they know

how to grow their crops

or their farm animals.

They succeed because they know

how to market they produce.

They know how to time their production

so that they sell their harvests

at a high price.”
– Zac B. Sarian

1.1.7. Location

Tagaytay is where I and my family reside.  It’s progress in terms of tourist destination and realty development is a strategic decision to establish a commodity trading firm.

There is Money in Junk

I did not know that there is money from Scraps and Junk items until I was assigned to it (I previously worked as Admin Supervisor for a corporate firm).  Later, I was even exposed to international scrap trading through a Singaporean partner.   Below are some of the scrap items I handled in the past when I still work for a big firm in Makati City Philippines:

Who would have thought that even a total loss vehicle has value.  I was able to haggle higher price for below scrap vehicles.?   Other firms just throw them as trash.

Total Loss Vehicles (as declared by Insurance Firms)

Salvage Parts from Total Loss Vehicles (as declared by Insurance Firms)

Scrap Metal (HMS 1&2 and Used Rails)

Other Related  Items I sold were Scrap Paper, Scrap Tires, Scrap Cloth/Leather (or fire or water damaged factory items).

I still have the connections both for local and international (subject to inspection).  If you are interested or would want me to sell your items, just e-mail me at denissalvatierra@yahoo.com

MOSQUERADE

No offense to the Muslims and this article does not oppose Obama’s decision regarding the plan to build a Mosque in Ground Zero .  Allow me please dissect the issue.

Although President Obama reiterates America’s commitment to religious freedom, I am also entitled to my own opinion that BO’s “no regret” action in allowing a Mosque in Lower Manhattan has nothing to do with his personal belief.   The Mosque in Ground Zero is plain and simple a Political Action, as sort of strong cure to a strong illness that is haunting America in years.   Obama may not admit this but he is just following the footsteps of Israel as below image…

Mosquerade?  Come to think it.

As we all know, 9/11 attacks were a deeply traumatic event for America. Although this is an infamous step to undertake, I believe BO’s advisers believed this could moderate Muslims across the world and improve its relations with America in the years to come.  You need not be a political genius to figure this out.  Nonetheless I still believe that this is “Mosquerade.” I have nothing against the plan but this is ain’t easy to swallow for Americans.

But as anybody else, I am also observing and await of the result.  Hope this turn out for the better.
