MOSQUERADE

No offense to the Muslims and this article does not oppose Obama’s decision regarding the plan to build a Mosque in Ground Zero .  Allow me please dissect the issue.

Although President Obama reiterates America’s commitment to religious freedom, I am also entitled to my own opinion that BO’s “no regret” action in allowing a Mosque in Lower Manhattan has nothing to do with his personal belief.   The Mosque in Ground Zero is plain and simple a Political Action, as sort of strong cure to a strong illness that is haunting America in years.   Obama may not admit this but he is just following the footsteps of Israel as below image…

Mosquerade?  Come to think it.

As we all know, 9/11 attacks were a deeply traumatic event for America. Although this is an infamous step to undertake, I believe BO’s advisers believed this could moderate Muslims across the world and improve its relations with America in the years to come.  You need not be a political genius to figure this out.  Nonetheless I still believe that this is “Mosquerade.” I have nothing against the plan but this is ain’t easy to swallow for Americans.

But as anybody else, I am also observing and await of the result.  Hope this turn out for the better.

BO View

Change has really come to America.   Although I have nothing against it, many were seemed surprise when President Obama sits with the ladies on a daytime talk show — The View.

Better to view it yourself …

The critics has their point but Obama also. He has all the right to do what he thinks is right.  It’s just that many viewers, especially conservatives and politicians felt awkward and tend to think that this move is uncalled for.  In the contrary, some saw his human side and felt good seeing him reach out in a non traditional manner.  Such is uncommon for a dignified President and known as the most powerful man in the planet.  It shows that he is not that criticism conscious.

BO is the same as anybody else so he cannot please everybody either.  That’s what it is in weeks or months… You win some you loose some.

Come to think of it.  In the end, this will be  forgotten.  What people will remember is his contribution for the well being of his countrymen, his nation and the world… not his views.   I am not an BO die hard.  I am just being objective about this matter as the famous saying goes, …”those who have no sin should cast the first stone.”

Change Has Come to America’s Credit Cards

The new federal credit card rules finally took effect Monday to regulate the business that eaten America alive over the past years.   As per report, the rules, passed by Congress in May, seek to “level the playing field” between consumers and credit card companies, President Obama said.  Nonetheless, new regulatory bodies are needed to replace the fractured oversight of seven regulatory bodies that failed to prevent the abusive credit card practices.

Among the changes that took effect Monday:

  • Increased interest rates cannot be applied retroactively to existing balances. New rates can apply only to new charges.
  • The interest rate on a fixed-rate credit card cannot be increased during the first year an account is open unless the customer is more than 60 days behind in making a payment.
  • Banks cannot automatically sign up customers for programs that allow them to exceed their credit limit for a set fee. Customers must proactively opt-in to such programs.
  • Fees on a credit card, such as the annual fee, cannot be more than 25% of the card’s initial credit limit.
  • People younger than 21 must show they can make credit card payments or have a co-signer to open an account.
  • Bills must denote how long it would take to pay off the card’s balance if only the minimum payment is made, and how much in total the customer would end up paying.
  • Payments over the minimum must be applied to the balance with the highest interest rate.
  • The due date for credit card payments must be the same every month, and payments cannot be due earlier than 5 p.m. on a business day. Customers have until the next business day when a due date falls on a weekend or a holiday.
  • Those provisions follow ones that took effect in August requiring banks to notify customers at least 45 days before increasing a card’s interest rate and to mail statements 21 days before the bill is due, up from 14 days.

The new rules are expected to help consumers but critics say it won’t solve all the problems.

But as mentioned by one customer, “at least we’re no longer going to get run over by the train from behind,” he said. “Now we can see it coming and maybe jump to the next track.”

Obama New Budget for Dummies

President Obama seem to walk in the harder path for his country…  doing what he think is best, rather than pleasing the traditional politicians, critic and not be dictated by  his party.  This was clearly seen to his new $3.8 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2011.

Compared to Bush-era, Obama calls for increased spending on what are the necessity and necessary for America:

  • Ededucation
  • Clean energy technology
  • Moderation on the defense budget
  • Job creation

Obama also did what he promised during the campaign for his Presidentcy… tax cuts for high-income Americans expire as scheduled at the end of 2010.

Although, many are frustrated as he seem to depart from the “American Dream” thing (unorthodox way of facing recession as what JFK and other known American presidents did), many experts agree that Obama is doing the right thing.

Black History Month

Black History Month is a national annual observance for remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. It is being celebrated in America and Canada in the month of February but October in United Kingdom.  Dark ages for Black Africans happened on the said nations.  Though the experience was somehow horifying, African Americans of today (especially those that excelled in various field… latest is Barak Obama), should thank the sacrifices of their fore fathers that resulted to the kind of life and recognition they have right now.  But do not forget that God also used white and other races for the black to gain their freedom.   Whatever race they maybe (those that help), history also reveal that without the impact of the Gospel or the Bible, freedom for the black and opressed races will never came to pass.  Historically, the people that fought for the genuine freedom for the blacks are Christians and true followers of Jesus during those time.

As recorded, the remembrance originated in 1926 by historian Carter G. Woodson as “Negro History Week”. Woodson chose the second week of February because it marked the birthdays of two Americans who greatly influenced the lives and social condition of African Americans: former President Abraham Lincoln and abolitionist and former slave Frederick Douglass. Woodson also founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History, now the Association for the Study of African American Life and History.

Thanks to the former TV program of the 70’s, many were informed of Black African’s history (not just the Hollocaust – stories of the Jews).

Hope someone could infomed me if the poster is the same “Roots” that was originally shown during the 70’s ,or just a remake.

State of the Union 2010

I usually get bored with political speeches until I heard Obama.  I really like what he uttered on his inauguration and in Egypt where he bridge the gap between America and the Middle East.  But, I was not that impressed with his state of union.  Actually, I see no wrong to his speech.  It’s just that I could not connect his state of the union address to “American dream.”   Although Obama mentioned his High-Speed Rail vision and he may have pleased the environmentalist, ultimately this project fall short of what known 20th century American Presidents have accomplished.  Let me refresh you with some (some are not literally connected to State of the Union):

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (Bombing of Tokyo Japan in retaliation to its invasion of Pearl Harbor, etc.)

Harry Truman (First Atomic Bom, Creation of Central Intelligence Agency, etc.)

Theodore Roosebelt  (The Construction of Panama Canal  – man made canal connecting Pacific and Atlantic Ocean)

Herbert Hoover (Construction of Hoover Dam to battle the great depression, etc.)

John F. Kenedy (Race to the moon, etc.)

Ronald Reagan (Star Wars Space Station, etc.)

Although Benjamin Franklin was not from the 20th Centrury, let me include him as his legacy paved the way why America became the land of the free.

I know this was just Obama’s first year as President and he still needs more time.  President Obama deserves the benefit of the doubt.  Nonetheless, I hope President Obama take into consideration the “American Dream” as it is the cornerstone why America is America today and is different from other countries of world.

US President Barak Obama has so much achievement already for himself.  I won’t pretend to know it all but he seems to be in the news everyday since the US Presidential election.  Books written about him seem to sell like hotcakes and he even won the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize.  Only a number of presidents have this accomplishment (even world leaders).  I believed it will make Obama greater if he humbly follow the footsteps of the great American Presidents and   learn how they creatively face recessions and all sorts of war through inspiring extreme projects and impossible mission.
