More teeth to Singapore Consumer Protection Law

A law that simply empowers consumer in Singapore.

Within six months of delivery, consumer can voice out their complaint if they noticed defects on their bought products under the protection of Lemon Law.

The Consumers Association of Singapore has been lobbying on this since 2005.  As such, proposed amendments to the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act and Hire Purchase Act introduced in Parliament will give more teeth to the existing law.

The law commence to apply from September 2012.  As such, the changes will allow consumers to demand a defective good be repaired or replaced.
