Christmas season is something many of us are anticipating. In a number of countries, the yuletide season starts as early as September 1. To make the most of the season, it is better to plan ahead and be ready. One need not be a guru in concepts and designs. Those who need ideas, I think I can help through my compilation I am making of inspiring references for home and business use. This is my most recent project for the benefit of Cancer patients I and my wife are trying to help. Below are my earlier works:
am formulating a Feasibility Study for a client but I stopped for a while to give way to an idea of establishing a Cancer Support Group. I have to admit that I am starting from scratch as I have nothing except a vision and care. The idea started when my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer early this year. Since then, I began to incubate care for the cancer patients as I found out how hard it is for them to go through that stage due to so many factors affecting them:
Required treatment and medications
Physical and emotional stress
Mental drain
Physical limitations
Complete diet shift from cooked to raw vegetables
Financial
Other factors
We are fortunate to find a Christian Church that truly cares. Aside from prayers, my wife recently received financial donation in support of her medications and diet. Although I am already in support of various ministries, the Pastor’s wife brought to our attention how she is burdened with the growing number of ill members’ medical and care needs, which concerns me a lot. I told her, “why not establish a care ministry for cancer patients?” I smiled after that but the idea did not leave my mind till to this day. I hope somebody out there would help and support this endeavor… we wish to help organize and find support for Cancer Care Group, who will not just pray but also raise funds for the benefit of cancer patients in and outside of the four walls of our church. We are in Tagaytay Philippines and we need both an advise and support in any form.
Allow me to thank Optimox Corporation (manufacturer of “Iodoral” – cancer medicine/supplement) as they donated 12 bottles in support of my wife. I also would like to thank Breast Cancer Choices (non-profit organization) who donated 2 bottles of Iodoral. Out of those blessings we received, we shared a number of bottles to other breast cancer patients attending the same church we attend (International Christian Fellowship of Tagaytay). The countless blessings also comes from family and friends who supported us in any kind. I know that God will bless them a hundred fold in His right time.
In the near future, my wife and I would like to ask the church board to allow separate Sunday School gathering for cancer patients and those will ailment. I am also thinking of sponsoring other projects and programs as awareness seminar-workshop, livelihood, fund raising, art exhibit and partnering with Non Governmental Organization or other Local and International Cancer Care Group.
In this modern times, a cancer patient should not lose hope because there are number of options that provides treatment or cure whether it’s conventional/traditional or alternative/natural treatment and medicines. We both accept medicines and sponsorship donations for either of the two.
Others:
Above is a juicer highly recommended for cancer patient as natural juice from fruits and vegetable is far greater than almost all food intake. Another effective therapy is the coffee enema (please see and ask your Doctor about it).
One fine day in a particular area in USA in the late 60s, there was an ordinary Sunday School teacher who resigned because she thought nothing is happening. The kids were still noisy and inattentive in spite of her weekly effort. Unknowingly, a number of young American soldiers were ambushed in Vietnam. Many died instantly.
The wounded were brought to the camp for treatment. As they were too many, the attending Doctors can only attend to one patient at a time. But one young soldier called the attention of one of the Doctor. That young man is dying yet he wasable to ask the Doctor to whisper his last words. The young man said, “Please write to my former Sunday School teacher in America. Please tell her thank you very much because one Sunday when I am still a kid, she led us in a prayer of acceptance that I accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and savior. Now by faith, I believe that I am saved. Tell her that now I am going to heaven. Also tell her that I will wait for her in heaven to thank her there myself.” After that, the young soldier died.
Few days later, the doorbell rang on the residence of that old Sunday School teacher. As she read the name of the sender, she could not believe she will receive a letter from Vietnam. But as she read the letter, her tears began to flow and couldn’t help but cry. From that day on, she decided to teach children again through Sunday School and actively participated in other Children’s Church activities.
The story was excerpted from one of the back issues of one known Christian booklet publication.
As to Vacation Bible School (VBS), it will only be for a few hours per day, in just five to six days. If you think that teaching kids through VBS is easy, think again! This is no ordinary school or summer activity as it is not simple as it looks. This period is crucial to both attending children and volunteer teachers and workers. To those who have experienced it, the values and motivation kids learned from VBS will be their stepping stone to a clearer view of Christian life and pathway direction they will choose to go through in their life time. Such activity will be very inspiring if the organizers and teachers will come-up with enjoyable and effective VBS. As a result, this will strengthen their belief in God and will gain self confidence as they perform a task or goal or service to God through the Christian church they belong. Many of them will grow to be a blessing to their family, churches, community because a teacher has stepped-up to share God’s love to them. Same thing applies to Sunday School teachers.
If you are in anyway serve God through the Children’s Church, never feel that your efforts are not getting anywhere because Jesus appreciate everything you do for him. One day, you will also be surprise as many will thank you in Heaven.
We are giving away a free VBS materials (downloadable). It’s just that the language is still limited to Filipino (tagalog) at the moment. If any publisher or fund grantee is willing to support, we are willing to collaborate as my original materials is being requested not just in the Philippines but also in other countries as in Hawaii and Zambia. You can e-mail us at denissalvatierra@yahoo.com for details.
I admire how the new Philippine government strive to clean the mess of the past. I believe people will admire them the most if they simultaneously allow Filipino culture be expressed again in landscapes, architecture, billboards, malls, movies, shopping, festivities, agriculture, manufacturing and so on and so forth. This is the essence of People Power — and the people at this point only awaits to be empowered by their government. If you can read between the lines, the silent majority and the new breed of Filipinos are just waiting to be utilized.
In the Philippines, preparation for the coming Christmas season is I think one of the best time to promote moral and cultural programs for national building. Filipinos start to observe as early as first day of September. Filipinos calls it the “ber” months. Unlike in other countries, Christmas carols are already played in the airwaves and that adds to the inspiration. The mall owners knew how to exploit the emotion of the people so they go with the flow. Hope our present leaders will also use this opportunity to both motivate and mobilize many without spending much. Filipinos themselves will surely contribute in the preparation and cultural propagation through utilization of arts, craftsmanship and voluntarism. Below are some of the highly acclaimed Giant Christmas Lanterns showcase every December from Christmas Capital of the Philippines — Pampanga shown in my own art form:
Hope the government and private sector collaborate or individually sponsor those who can promote Filipino culture incorporate to Christmas spirit. A single giant lantern on display alone can attract more tourist and provide income opportunity for small businesses. How much more if a bigger place is decorated or transformed to a viewable display as what was done in the past at Policarpio Street in Mandaluyong City. You need not consult a genius to figure this out. Hope the Giant Christmas Lanterns be also displayed on major cities, streets, airports, terminals and places we all love them to be seen. It need not be expensive. Craftsmen and Artists only needs funder or supporter.
May the Filipino values and culture also complete in the billboard and public arena The public and private sectors should support.
To know more of the Holy Week on a more graphic way, please do watch the film, “The Passion of Christ” as directed by Mel Gibson.
Please do not think that Holy Week is a time for penitense or inflicting of pain in to your self in remembering Christ suffering. Biblically, God only desire that you accept His Son Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and repent on your sin through faith and prayer. Good works and being religious won’t save you as all man have sinned and fallshort in the eyes of God. Jesus already paid our sins in the first holy week. We just have to accept him, that’s all.
Above image is excerpt from Google images. As it seems to say, better to be of value and support the less fortunate and the children than be a hipocritical religious. Jesus already suffered, died and resurrected. It is enough. No need to repeat them.
Lent is an annual religious tradition within Roman Catholic religion. It is described as the period of liturgical year starting from Ash Wednesday to end of Holy Week, which is Resurrection Sunday (or Easter as many are calling it).
As per records, the purpose is to prepare the believers through prayer, penitence, alms giving and self denial in remembrance of the passion of Christ until His death and resurrection. Historically, the practice was largely observed until the Protestant Reformation in the time of Martin Luther (a former Catholic Bishop).
Many modern Protestant denominations these days observed the Lent in a refined and simplified manner. Their teaching foundation is somehow different as they directly read the Bible for the story (mostly quoting from the four Gospel: Matthey, Mark, Luke and John). Their observance has its difference as its purpose is focus on remembrance to Christ sacrifices for the salvation of mankind, without inflicting pain or sacrifice on ones self (or penitence). As they say, “salvation is a free gift from God when you sincerely accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior. Salvation is by God’s grace through our faith, not gain through good works or sacrifices.” This they believed from (John 3:16), “ For God so loved the world (or you), that He gave his only begoten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
Lent was also traditionally the term used to describe the period leading up to Christmas before the Advent officially recognized. As there are differences in the observance within Catholic religion, there are also differences in many aspects in different countries.
The title of the painting is “Forgiven” by Thomas Blackshear. Excerpt from Google Images.
To better understand the Lent is to view the movie “Passion of Christ” by acclaimed Direct, Mel Gibson. To me, this movie is the most honest Jesus movie ever made.
I am an in support of DailyVacation Bible Schoolwithin selected areas in the Philippines since 1991. I personally oversee the Children’s Church and Sunday School in years. The kids that I used to minister now continue what I have started. My styles are quite effective because I personally produced the manuals and materials based on Philippine culture. I was able to utilize my skills in design and my background in Advertising. Since then, lives have been change and the communities benefited. For proof, please view the link below…
If you can support, please be our sponsor as we need the materials to be printed out (minimal costings only), including promotional items and added accessories needed. We also need school supplies, tents, budget for food and transportation, and other necessities. These we need to reach many places and many kids for Christ. We are fortunate to have volunteer workers. Nonetheless, we need to provide them support as most of the places we send them are poor communities.
For your assurance that your money and support will reach the right people, you can either choose to print the materials yourself (through your contact printing press). You can just send the output via express delivery on or before April 2010. Or you can allow us to look for local printing press (they will e-mail you directly the quotation). Or if you want, I can also provide the Church Address and Contact person to whom you can send your donation via Bank to Bank (T/T) or Western Money Union. The in-charge will give you receipt. I won’t handle the money or donations, but I will be the one who will provide the designs.
Concept Designs are available upon request. Image shown is not the actual but somehow related.
